• ROONEY (TALK OF THE TOWN)
CHEATED
BOUNCEBACKABILITY
• WHAT WOULD JARVIS DO

The full version of our Rooney Tribute Song was initially hosted at Overplay where it reached number one.

ROONEY (TALK OF THE TOWN) – ROONEY was written in the early hours of June 22 2004 after watching the man himself produce a spellbinding performance against Croatia.

CHEATED – This was written at the end of England’s European Championship match against Portugal (after about 3 and half litres of diet coke round at Dean and Trudi’s – on a real caffiene high) and was previously subtitled “what a pain in the Urs”. We now however accept that there was no conspiracy by UEFA and Urs Meier (the referee) to guarantee Portugal – the tournament hosts – a place in the semi-finals and that it was purely sour grapes on behalf of the millions and millions who saw a perfectly good goal disallowed for England. I’m not bitter.

BOUNCEBACKABILITY – Our anthem for the underdog. Inspired by the wise words of football manager Iain Dowie and the campaign to have the word entered into the dictionary on the rather excellent Soccer AM. It was written in an afternoon and recorded that night. A great exercise in writing to order.

WHAT WOULD JARVIS DO – A simple ditty proclaiming the lead singer of Pulp as world leader. Or perhaps not. I don’t know what it’s about except that it was our nod to Pulp. Bless ‘em
